Tea Time

Rose- chamomile tea with fresh lemon and ginger. It has a semi-sweet taste and really soothes the throat. Perfect for when you're getting over a nasty bug. As I am.

Here's to health and wellness this holiday season!

Peg and Awl

My new favorite Etsy shop for candles and other accoutrements for the home: Peg and Awl.

I put some of their candles in my Xmas Wishlist Treasury on Etsy. I love the simple, rustic nature of these useful, handmade treasures. I may need to buy some of these goodies for myself after the holidays as well. We shall see.

Telegraph, Berkeley and Renegade, SF!

My next two craft fairs are quickly sneaking up on me! But I'm ready. . . I gotta be right? =)

First off, I'll be selling at the Telegraph Avenue Holiday Street Fair in Berkeley! Details below:

11 A.M. to 6 P.M.
December 11, 12, 18, 19, 23, 24
Located between Dwight Way and Bancroft Way near the U.C. Campus in Berkeley CA.
Holiday shoppers to the Telegraph business district will be treated to an abundance of good cheer, great music, fine food, and unique and unusual handcrafts by some of Northern California's finest artists!

This fair offers the rare opportunity to buy fine art originals and inexpensive gift items in the same place. Shoppers can choose from a tremendous diversity of arts and crafts, including jewelry, beadwork, wirework, hats, candles, leather work, silk-screened and tie-dyed clothing, pottery, wood crafts, metal crafts, paintings, henna-art, gift boxes, photography and sculptures.
Festive lights, colorful decorations, and a
friendly multicultural shopping
atmosphere complete the experience.

(p.s. I'll be selling at this fair 3 of the 6 days: the 11th, 12th, and 23rd!)

Next up is the Renegade Craft fair at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco. Details below or clickity-click here for more info!

Hoping to see some friendly, smiling faces at both of these faires! The holiday season really is in full swing (yes, this amazes me slightly.) Enjoy your day!

Oakland and Jewelry

Wednesday item of the week in my Etsy
Shop
!

~hand-forged steel and brass pendant~

inspiration: the rough, imperfect beauty of my hometown, Oakland, Ca. The way the cold, industrial side interweaves with the persistent wildness - dandelions growing from cracks in the sidewalk, ivy vines climbing up the sides of deserted buildings, urban gardens over-flowing with delicious produce

Enter the coupon code "TangleweedsBlog" at checkout on Etsy to receive 30% off this steel and brass pendant. Discount applies to any of my "Oakland pendants", size small, medium, or large, from now until December 14th, 2010.

A Full Weekend

After a lovely but very busy weekend, I came down with a nasty flu-bug thing on Monday. Hence, the delay on this post about my weekend. In fact, today is blogging galore day! I'll be posting my usual "item-of-the-week" post later tonight as well as info about my upcoming craft fairs.

Saturday was the Noise Pop Holiday Shop in San Francisco, at the historic Verdi Club. The show was a lot of fun. Jeff and I sold at this one together, making for a very tiny set-up space!

There was live music and great food and yummy drinks (oh the bloody marys!). Here's a few snapshots from the day:

After a busy show-Saturday Jeff and I decided to take the day off on Sunday. We went to the farmer's market, ran some errands (like getting a fireplace screen so we can actually have fire in our new place and not risk the cats setting themselves on fire!), went to Urban Ore in Berkeley and had coffee at one of my new favorite places, Local 123.

That's Otis. The cats weren't too happy with the fact that we weren't at home very much over the weekend.

snack time! persimmons are in season again. yum!

mocha and good reads at Local 123

We finished the day at our favorite spot for locally brewed beer, Jupiter, in Berkeley.

Have a lovely night!

Noise Pop Holiday Shop

After a restful Thanksgiving weekend spent with Jeff's family in southern California, it's time to get back into the swing of things for the rest of the winter holiday season. And that means more craft shows! Coming up this Saturday, a fun little Noise Pop Holiday Shop, noon to 5pm, at the Verdi Club, 2424 Mariposa Street in San Francisco. I'm doing this one with Jeff, so really, you could kill two birds with one stone and buy a poster for your boyfriend and a pair of earrings for your sister. Hope to see you there!

and then on Sunday, I'll be at Real Mercantile in San Francisco at Chez Poulet, 3359 Cesar Chavez at Mission Street from 1 to 7pm. This local artisan market is organized by the lovely Nieves Rathbun, creatress of the skincare line By Nieves.

I will have some new earring designs as well as some "early-holiday shoppin' " deals. But you gotta drop by in order to find out what they are!

Hope to see you there!

Red Onion Woodworks

For today's Thursday Etsy Feature I thought I'd showcase an Etsy shop I just discovered yesterday, Camille's Red Onion Woodworks.

Natural Edge Salvaged Maple Serving Tray

I love the simple, rustic, earthiness of the serving trays, cutting boards, and various style platters that you can find in this shop. Taken straight from Camille's profile on Etsy, here's a little bit about the creator of these functional pieces of nature-wonder:

"I'm an off-grid mom of two. I start every morning by milking my dairy goat. My husband, Henry, is a horseshoer, farmer, botanist, Spanish interpreter, and sawyer among other things. He and our friend Stu have milled up vast stacks of beautifully figured bigleaf maple lumber. All the logs for this project were salvaged from industrial logging operations, backyards, and storm-damaged areas, so you can rest assured that each tree had a long and full life."

A Perfect Natural Edge Cheese Board

I feel like Camille's work is the kind of great kitchen pieces you can have around for a lifetime, and then pass on to your children. The prefect antithesis to our throw-away society!

Autumn Swans

Wednesday item of the week in my Etsy Shop!

inspiration: the crisp autumn air, the smell of fireplaces, crunchy leaves underfoot, dew covered blades of grass first thing in the morning

These earrings feature a lovely array of stones in gorgeous fall colors: citrine, andalucite, peridot, spinel, green garnet, sylvinite, and two large chunks of rutilated quartz.

This week I thought I'd feature an item that will soon no longer be available. I will only be making one more pair of these beauties and then this design will be discontinued.

Enter the code "tangleweeds blog" in the message section of your Etsy receipt to receive 30% off these rustic brass and semi-precious stone earrings. Discount applies to this item only, from now until November 9th, 2010.
