Aries Season - Springtime Giveaway - Feeling the Epic Energy

Okay, so without getting too "woo-woo" on all of you, I am seriously feeling the positive energy lately. Mercury came out of retrograde yesterday and my planet (Mars) is currently in Aries making for some serious "get it done!" energy. I've been very busy with Tangleweeds/learning how to maintain a balance that keeps me feeling sane and healthy and happy. Which means this little blog gets a bit neglected.

I'm stopping in today tho to post about my spring/summer 2013 giveaway. I have yet to debut this line in my Etsy shop; I'll be listing the new pieces this weekend, and I'll make sure to post here when the pieces become available. Today I give you a little sneak peek and a chance to win one of my new designs!

These are my "Flutter" earrings. The ear wires are gold-fill and the brass shapes are hand-cut and sanded by my very two hands. To enter to win these earrings simply leave a comment on this post. I'll anounce the winner next week, on Monday, both here and on my Facebook page.

In the meantime I hope everyone is having a great week!

Walks Around Berkeley

I never seem to be able to keep up with internet time - as in "if it's not posted within 24 hours of it happening then it's not relevant" time. Honestly, I think I may just give up on it all together and just continue to post my goings-ons as I can, as my "real life time" allows for. I could just pretend that these photos are from yesterday. . . but those of you clever enough would recognize the blossoming trees as early spring.

These photos are from April 2nd. It was one of those days when Jeff and I had little work (at least little work that needed to be accomplished that day). We decided we wanted to go for a walk and enjoy the summer-like weather we were having at the time.

So we filled up a bag with some snacks and hoped in the car and headed over to the Berkeley campus. It's a beautiful campus to walk through. This particular Saturday it was pretty quiet (I think it may have been spring break for Cal students, but I'm not sure.)

the Berkeley Campanile

We took the elevator to the top of the Berkeley Campanile as well, something I had never done before.  The view was lovely. It was easily 10 degrees colder up there too!

Walking is my absolute favorite mode of transportation. It frustrates me when life gets so chaotic and busy that I feel like I don't have the time to walk places.

I have found that if I plan my errands and my week carefully I can maximize walking and riding my bike  as opposed to jumping in the car. It's all about maintaining a balance in my life that is dynamic rather than static. And quiet, reflective days like this one help to keep things in perspective.

picture-perfect bridge and stairway

It was a lovely stroll that ended with beers and pizza at, Jupiter, one of our favorite spots in Berkeley.

Blissful and Busy

Blissful and busy. . . these kinds of days call for a certain kind of outfit. Clothes that are easy to move in but still flattering. And especially this time of the year, I want to wear pretty prints and soft fabrics.

Blissfully busy

Right now I'm really drawn to this silhouette of a fitted blouse, tank top, or tee paired with a flowy, drapey skirt. Flats or sandals being the most appropriate shoes of course!

Hair detail. The butterfly is actually an old broach. I took the sharp stick part off and attached it to a bobby pin.

Blissfully busy

The most comfortable shoes in the world.

New Spring/Summer Line

My new spring/summer '10 line is slowly unveiling itself in my Etsy shop. It features lots of rustic, oxidized and aged metals, chain, and feathers all splashed with a good dose of *whimsy*.

I have a good friend who has had many pet birds in her lifetime: parrots, cockatiels, cockatoos, ducks, pigeons and so many more! She collects the feathers from these birds, as they naturally fall off throughout the birds lifetime, and saves them for future art projects (she is a painter and mixed media artist). Recently she let me pour through her carefully preserved selection and pick some out for use in my jewelry. These earrings are just one of the many pieces of jewelry I created with my lucky findings!

All of the pieces I will be unveiling in my spring/summer 2010 line that incorporate feathers will be one-of-a-kind designs, since the feathers themselves are all so unique (and beautiful!).

Stop by my shop to pick up a piece of nature just for you!
