This lovely market has been cancelled for Saturday due to inclement weather. I am sorry to disappoint those of you who were considering going. I will keep everyone updated on my future craft fairs!

Beehive Market take two!

I'll be selling at this fun market this coming Saturday, again!

I sold at this market in the beginning of October and really enjoyed myself. It's a good time, the music is not too loud but definitely loud enough to enjoy and everyone is very neighborly; it has the feel of a small town market. This Saturday you can here the San Francisco band Burnt Ones. You should definitely stop by 'cause I'll be having some great buy one-get one half-off deals! Hope to see you there!

Black bird black bird

This little birdie is on my *wishlist* for Christmas. Jeff, I hope you're looking at this blog post =). They are from the lovely Etsy shop, Blue Terracotta.

These lovely crows are made from remnants of black linen and lace. I think they are perfectly whimsical and fairytale like and I would love love love to have one for my home.

Or maybe even two!

Peruse the lovely handmade creatures such as owls, birds, butterflies, and fish at Blue Terracotta.

A few rooms to call home

I, like so many others at this point in life, love to comb the internet for pleasing images, pictures of places or things or people that speak to me. It is a lovely way to unwind at the end of my day. The internet has given me a way to easily stumble upon pictures that speak to me, that appeal to my aesthetic.

I've started many inspiration folders on my desktop. Today I was combing through one of them and thought I'd share a few room photos that I've saved from various sources. (Unfortunately, I do not know where any of them have come from at this point.) With my recent move there has been much unpacking and arranging of furniture. . . and looking at others' spaces that I enjoy helps me realize what I desire in my own living space.

This room looks like the perfect little hidey-hole away from the concerns of everyday life. . .

I love the use of miss-matched pieces of wood as the headboard in this room.

This room, is quite frankly, blissful perfection in my opinion. With the addition of a plethora of glass jars and vases in various sizes, shapes, and colors I would joyfully sleep here and read here every single night.

I may start a "Monday Inspiration" installment to this blog. . . I'll see how that idea feels as the ensuing weeks unfold. Have a lovely end to your day, however you choose to spend it!

Weathered Silver

Wednesday item of the week in my Etsy Shop!

~hand-forged steel, copper, silver pendant~

inspiration: stormy, blustery, "almost-feels-like-fall-for-real" days

I love this piece because of it's aged appearance (achieved by much hammering and sanding and a bit of oxidizing) and it's simplicity. It's a great piece layered with other pieces or worn as a subtle statement by itself.

Prett Penny

You can now find my jewelry at Sarah Dunbar's fantastic vintage shop, Pretty Penny. Her store is on College Avenue in the Rockridge district of Oakland. Hours are 11am to 7pm seven days a week! And I must say, she carries a lovely selection of vintage clothes, shoes, accessories, as well as jewelry made by local artists. Check out her website or drop by her store for more info!

Beehive Market

I'll be selling at this fun market this coming Saturday! It's a free market to attend, with a full farmer's market and live music at noon. This Saturday you can here the local band Social Studies. You should definitely stop by 'cause I'll be having some great buy one-get one half-off deals! Hope to see you there!

Animals and Bones

Today for my Thursday Etsy feature I thought I'd showcase the work of a good friend of mine. She has recently opened her Etsy shop, Marin Camille.

hand-embroidered on calico, antique frame. 10''x12''

I became acquainted with her work at an art opening she had at Fivepoints Arthouse in San Francisco. Marin hand-embroiders her own designs on vintage fabrics and then picks the most perfect frames to accent her work.

little pelvic bone

walrus skull

I love the subjects she chooses to portray, the animal bones, the full bird skeletons. The choices of fabric and frames ads a strange elegance to the whole piece. Recently, my boyfriend and I were sitting around talking about some more things we need for our new home, and we both decided that a trio of Marin's pieces are in order for a particular spot in your hallway.

ribcage

Marin does have a show coming up soon, which I do believe will be held at the fabulous vintage store, Pretty Penny in Oakland on College Ave. She'll be introducing some new work. . . but I'll leave the nature of it a surprise. When I know details about the show I'll be posting them here and on my facebook page as well.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass

Jeff and I were only able to make it out to this fantastic music fair for one day this year, Sunday. We got to hear (I say hear rather than "saw" because the crowds are so huge that getting very close to the stage is a near impossibility) Roseanne Cash (my favorite of the day), Nick Lowe, Dave Alvin, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and the Indigo Girls. Here's a few pictures from our day. . .

These two ladies were selling the yummiest aqua frescas, cantaloupe and spicy lemonade!

The crowd. We like to go to this event picnic style. We bring a blanket and lots of food and drinks and pick a stage that has the most acts at it that we both want to see and then we basically hunker down and camp out for the day. It's really fun and I find it much less stressful than rushing from stage to stage frantically trying to get to see EVERYONE. I got to catch up on my NY Times reading too.

and lastly. . . what I wore.
Good night for now!

Sunshine and Cats

Keep me happy. And while a part of me is already growing nostalgic for summer, I am looking forward to brisk fall weather. Fall is all about slowing down, preparing for the winter, hunkering down, saving your nuts, so to speak. Sometimes I let myself get so busy that I forget how to do just that. . .

But I've got this guy (and his brother) to remind me how to slow down and relax.

A few favorites. . .

Well, we all know that I've been a bit lax in the blog world as of late. . . between moving and selling at arts and crafts fairs every other weekend, along with all the other usual stuff of life, I just failed to find the time for a while. But now that Jeff, the kids, and I are moved I'm slowly finding the time again for all of the things I want to be doing (like yoga, tending to this blog, thrifting, and so many other things that I still need to wiggle back into my days!).

I want to get back to doing my Thursday Etsy feature, but thought that today I'd share some wonderful pieces from various Etsy stores that I've been lusting after. . .

Coral Museum Hoops

Scuba Skirt

Olympic Rings

Temescal Twist Cowl

"Prayers" earrings

It's funny for me to be finding myself so drawn to silver. . . I'm not usually, maybe it's the seasons changing, making me crave something a bit different? I also know that I could stand to own a few more knit pieces for the cold weather that is soon to descend upon us. The cowl is from this great little Etsy shop called, Dandyal. Alice, the woman behind all the great designs also makes a jar cozy that I think I have to have!

That's all for my Etsy favorites for now. . . Next week I'll be back with a full store feature. . . now I just have to decide which shop!
