Craft Fairs Galore - The Month of July

This month has been chock full of craft fairs for Tangleweeds. All within the bay area, but each one has been it's own unique experience.

Last weekend I sold at the simply awesome Indie Mart. This outdoor, hipster-influeneced fair happens every year on Wisconsin Street between 16th and 17th, right near Thee Parkside. You know that means lots of yummy drinks while you peruse the handmade and vintage goodies!

Prior to Indie Mart (two weekends ago) I ventured out to Marin County for the first time. This time it was the San Anselmo Art and Wine Festival. . .

If you follow my Etsy shop at all, you'll quickly see that there are many pieces that I sell at these fairs that never make it into my Etsy shop. It's simply a TON of work keeping up on photographing everything that I make. And it encourages you to come out and meet/see me at a fair that may be close to you! =)

Just Words

Just a few words tonight.

Lately, whenever I have a few spares moments (as in seconds!) I find myself thinking about how I should be using those seconds as wisely as possible. This here 'ol blog, oft neglected, pops into my head at these moments of "free time." Mostly the thoughts are tinged with guilt. I know I don't put much time or energy into it, and mostly it's because I'm always having to prioritize, and this blog is often on the bottom of the priority list.

But! And this is a big but, I am quitting my job at Peaberry's as of August 31st, and finally diving into working only for myself full-time. With this transition, I hope to get more serious about some of the sides of Tangleweeds that I have yet to flesh out, and this blog is one of them. It's also kind of a last-ditch attempt to make this blog work. . .

So, if all goes according to planned, in the next few months you can expect to see this blog becoming more active, with more in depth posts covering a wider range of topics than I've had yet to cover. Hopefully a little blog makeover will be in the works as well. I just really want this here blog to work out. I have plans. BIG plans =).

Wooden Windows

Wooden Window Earrings

inspiration: old, abandoned houses in the middle of urban neighborhoods, with their bits of unique beauty still in tact - wooden window frames, rusty wrought-iron gates, wildflowers overtaking brick walkways.

Havin' Fun

Just a few photos from last night. Jeff and I headed out to the Berkeley Marina to watch the fireworks display. We froze our butts off even with scarves, jackets, and a blanket in tow, but it was well worth it. I love love love seeing fireworks! Maybe it's because I'm a fire sign.

I hope everyone out there had a safe and happy fourth of July!

Walks Around Berkeley

I never seem to be able to keep up with internet time - as in "if it's not posted within 24 hours of it happening then it's not relevant" time. Honestly, I think I may just give up on it all together and just continue to post my goings-ons as I can, as my "real life time" allows for. I could just pretend that these photos are from yesterday. . . but those of you clever enough would recognize the blossoming trees as early spring.

These photos are from April 2nd. It was one of those days when Jeff and I had little work (at least little work that needed to be accomplished that day). We decided we wanted to go for a walk and enjoy the summer-like weather we were having at the time.

So we filled up a bag with some snacks and hoped in the car and headed over to the Berkeley campus. It's a beautiful campus to walk through. This particular Saturday it was pretty quiet (I think it may have been spring break for Cal students, but I'm not sure.)

the Berkeley Campanile

We took the elevator to the top of the Berkeley Campanile as well, something I had never done before.  The view was lovely. It was easily 10 degrees colder up there too!

Walking is my absolute favorite mode of transportation. It frustrates me when life gets so chaotic and busy that I feel like I don't have the time to walk places.

I have found that if I plan my errands and my week carefully I can maximize walking and riding my bike  as opposed to jumping in the car. It's all about maintaining a balance in my life that is dynamic rather than static. And quiet, reflective days like this one help to keep things in perspective.

picture-perfect bridge and stairway

It was a lovely stroll that ended with beers and pizza at, Jupiter, one of our favorite spots in Berkeley.
